Tailgating Info

Tailgating is a big part of Homecoming at Delta State, and there are two locations on campus where alumni, students, families, and friends can set up for game day: Statesmen Park and the Quad.

Statesmen park

Located near Parker Field-McCool Stadium, Statesmen Park is the primary tailgating area for Homecoming. Tailgating spaces for Statesmen Park are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so no reservation is required.

Statesmen Park is designed for traditional tailgating, and amplified music is not permitted in this area during game time. Tailgaters are welcome to bring tents, tables, chairs, food, and other game-day essentials and enjoy the park with the Delta State family before kickoff.

the quad

Groups that plan to have amplified music on Saturday should tailgate on the Quad. Unlike Statesmen Park, tailgating spaces on the Quad must be reserved in advance by completing the Tailgating Application form HERE.

Greek organizations, including both student and alumni groups, may also tailgate on the Quad.

Reservations must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, and spaces are assigned based on availability.

friday night tailgating

Want to get an early start on Homecoming weekend? Tailgating may begin on Friday, October 23 at 4:00 PM. Tailgaters may leave their tents and equipment set up overnight, but everyone must leave the tailgating areas by midnight.

RESERVING TABLES AND CHAIRS

If you are tailgating with a student or campus organization, you can reserve tables and chairs HERE.

Tailgating Guidelines

Pig Pickin' is a family-friendly tradition that welcomes alumni, students, families, and friends to campus. To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please observe the following guidelines:

  • Keep it family-friendly: All tailgaters are expected to conduct themselves respectfully and appropriately.

  • Glass containers are prohibited: No glass bottles or containers are permitted in Statesmen Park.

  • Keep music appropriate: Music is welcome but must not contain excessive profanity, vulgarity, or other offensive content and should be played at a respectful volume.

  • Be a good neighbor: Please be respectful of nearby tailgates and keep pathways and emergency access routes clear at all times.

  • Clean up after your group: Dispose of all trash before leaving your tailgate area.

  • Follow event staff instructions: All tailgaters must comply with directions from university officials, Alumni Association staff, and campus police.

The Delta State University Alumni Association reserves the right to remove individuals or groups that fail to comply with these guidelines or otherwise compromise the safety or enjoyment of the event.
