HISTORY OF HOMECOMING
Homecoming has been bringing the Delta State family back to Cleveland for nearly a century. Dating back to the 1930s, the tradition began during the early years of Delta State Teachers College and has grown alongside the University itself.
Homecoming at Delta State is more than just a weekend. Students celebrate throughout the week with activities and events across campus, leading up to the Homecoming parade and the weekend’s festivities. The parade has long been part of the tradition, bringing students, alumni, and the Cleveland community together before the celebration continues on campus.
Through the years, Homecoming has changed along with Delta State, but it has always been a time for alumni to return to campus and reconnect with the University and each other. From class reunions and campus events to tailgating and Statesmen football, Homecoming continues to bring generations of the Delta State family together.
